Hawthorne Park Estates, has been in the making for almost a decade. Hawthorne Park on Union Chapel Road was one of the most popular developments in Allen County during the building boom of 2001 – 2005 and Joe Zehr, president of NPT Development had his eye on the next phase. Plans were underway, waiting for the market to return.

Since the completion of the project in December, interest has been extremely robust. The following excerpt from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette describes the popularity of the project despite the fact that it caters to  one of  the smallest segments of the market.

“Admittedly, it is a small segment of the market, but there is a demand for it,” said Zehr, who hopes to eventually complete a high-end subdivision with 59 homes surrounded by lakes in a park-like setting. “Our first phase is 32 homes, and we have 11 sold so far. With homes ranging from half a million to a million we’re not going to sell 50 houses a year.”

Hawthorne Park is less than 10 minutes from Parkview.

“Doctors could ride their bikes to work if they wanted to,” Zehr said.
