Thousands of REALTORS® converged upon Capital Hill at the 2016 National Association of REALTORS® 2016 Legislative Conference to support for Realtor Party issues.
There were four top issues that the REALTORS® sought to promote. The first issue was making FHA financing available for Condominiums which make up about 9% of the housing stock are often a more affordable option for home ownership. REALTORS® asked that Congressmen and Senators ease rules which make financing condominiums so difficult.
The second issue was to make sure that qualified borrowers have access to safe and affordable mortgage financing by prohibiting guaranteed fees (G-fees) from being extended, increased and diverted for unrelated government spending. Next REALTORS® asked for private flood insurance options to be made available, and finally, that Congress continue to support real estate related tax policies. these policies include the mortgage interest deduction, the property tax deduction and the 1031 Like-kind Exchange.
