We are nearly half way through the first month of 2021 and we have a question: how are your 2021 new year’s resolutions going? Did you make any resolutions at all?
It’s not too late to set goals for your year, so if you’re stumped on a resolution to try, here are some unique resolutions that you aren’t too late to jump in on!
Build a Budget
It may seem crazy to some, but did you know many people don’t have a formal budget that they refer to? Setting a budget helps you to balance the money coming into your bank account with money coming out of your account and by making yourself aware of where all that money is “disappearing” to, you’ll be able to save and set aside more money for the things you really want and need. Need budget help? We love Dave Ramsey’s course Financial Peace University, or one of the many resources provided on his website.
Cook Something New Each Week
This is such a simple way to add some variety into your life! Browse Pinterest or food blogs online for recipes that sound tasty and just add those ingredients to your shopping list each week. You may find a new dish you absolutely love!
Read More Books
There’s lots of reasons to read more! Reading improves brain connectivity, helps to increase your vocabulary and comprehension, empowers you to empathize with others, reduces stress, can lower blood pressure and heart rate, and provide some great, screen-free entertainment along the way! A fun way to tackle this resolution is to keep a list of every book you read this year and count it up at the end of 2021 to see how far you got!
Create a Cleaning Schedule
For many people, a total house cleaning session is intimidating, un-fun, and if we’re honest, brings out the procrastinator in most of us. A great way to break up the household cleaning/chores is to pick a chore for each day of the week. For example, maybe you clean the bathrooms on Monday, dust on Tuesday, vacuum on Wednesday, and so on. Breaking up the chores instead of stockpiling them to accomplish all at once will not only help keep your home tidy from day to day, but will help you avoid the dread of a total cleaning overhaul.
Take the Stairs
This is a resolution that would apply really well for people working outside of the home – in office buildings, hospitals, and more. Opting out of taking the elevator is a simple way to get more steps in, and thus more activity to keep your body moving and healthy as a whole. If you have an Apple watch or FitBit, this is a really fun way to watch your daily steps go up! Remember, small steps can lead to big lifestyle change over time!
As we continue into this new year, it is never too late to adopt healthy habits for our mind, body, and spirit. Take a moment to consider what simple step you can take this year to improve your day to day lifestyle.
