Fall can seem like a difficult time of the year to decorate your home, but it doesn’t have to be. Personally i think fall is one of the best times to decorate your home because it is easy to do in a tasteful fashion while still appearing festive. This may have something to do with my tendency towards fall colors, and warm comfy blankets but i think others can learn to love the fall as well. Here are a few tips while decorating your house for the fall whether you are trying to sell or just entertaining guests.
One of the easiest ways to embrace the fall spirit is incorporating fall colors into the design of your room. This can be done in several different ways, including using fruit and fall vegetables such as gourds and of course pumpkins. You can also bring some fall charm into your home by setting the table with some rust colored linens. This is a simple yet noticeable change. Using brass candlesticks and wooden bowls add to the rustic appeal of your home.
Sprinkle the house with rustic textures:
Find your coziest blankets, pillows and linens to make your lounging spaces more inviting. Contrast the soft and cozy fibers with more natural textures. Books stacked on an end table or wire metal storage baskets balances nicely with softer elements and creates a warm and inviting space to relax on a chilly autumn night.
Bring the outside in:
Leaves, branches and acorns are perfect decor elements for the autumn season. After all, the colors and textures of the season are derived from nature! Centerpieces for your fall dinner table are as easy as filling a hurricane glass with pine cones, acorns, or freshly fallen leaves.
Shop the Kitchen:
The fall season is all about harvest. What better way to decorate for the season than with fruits of the harvest? Apples, squash, pumpkins and Indian corn are rich in autumn colors as well as diverse in texture. Pumpkins, especially, come in a a variety of colors and shapes that can be arranged in a beautiful display on a front porch or in your entry way.
