This is the time of year when winter really feels like it will never end. The good new is that it will, believe it or not. The bad news is its probably going to be a few weeks. So what can you do in the meantime to get in the spring spirit? Indoor spring cleaning! Once the good weather hits, you’re going to have lots of outdoor projects, so now is the time to tackle the indoor ones.
Spring is time for a fresh start. Now that winter is almost over, take stock of your clothing and donate any winter clothes that you didn’t wear this season. If you didn’t like them this year, you won’t like them next year! Also get out your spring/summer clothes and see what need to be donated and replaced. Once you’ve finished with your closet, move to other rooms in your house – hallway closets and kitchen drawers are usually filled with unnecessary clutter. Get rid of it and get organized before the nice weather hits and calls you outdoors!
Perhaps one of the most dreaded and neglected jobs in your home. We often don’t think of cleaning kitchen appliances, but it really needs to be done 1-2 times per year. This includes deep cleaning your oven, wiping out all the shelves in your fridge and even cleaning your dishwasher (you can buy special pods for this so that you don’t have to do it by hand).
Move the furniture and clean all those hidden dirty places in your home. This includes under the couch, behind the refrigerator and under your beds and dressers. This is also a good time to wipe down all of your baseboards and dust any hard to reach places (high and low). If you have a basement, now would also be the time to clean that as well!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your spring cleaning to do list, tackle one space per day. Again, we’ve got a few weeks before spring is actually here so make the most of these last dreary days!
